Even the sunlight streaming the windows seemed to settle quietly. The sheet of snow layering the ground made everything all the more still. I hope to convey in these photos the rest and peace I felt today. Time I could use to pursue my career time I could be going on mission trips time I could be doing something meaningful.īut I am so so glad I did not plan anything.
I didn't plan anything for this holiday break which some may say is a waste of my time. My late teens and early twenties.a race I'm supposed to walk and run at the same time. But after all of that, I'm still so lost. Major exploration, career counseling, volunteer work. As a not-for-profit integrated system Intermountain Healthcare strives to deliver higher. Career fairs, study abroad, research opportunities. Helping people live the healthiest lives possible is our mission. Classes suddenly became hard to pass, internship/job applications replaced my Netflix nights, and shadowing at clinics became the use of my spare time. This past semester of college has been hectic. Still, there's ambition and effort powering these stories, the kind of which too many other movies lack.Post semester and home for the holidays, I decided to try out a new cafe in our little town. Likewise, the final, climactic kidnap plot finds a way to weave several different stories together, but might be a bit too ridiculous for some. But how well the movie's violence against women has aged is up for debate. Intermission was made at a time where British and Irish cinema wanted to push boundaries and tell bold stories about everyday life.

An infamous opening set piece has a particularly wicked twist, but sets the tone for a movie that doesn't divert its gaze from characters unafraid to use force to get what they want. Despite Intermission's low budget, the talented cast - which includes Cillian Murphy, Colin Farrell, and Kelly Macdonald - manage to bring to life a mostly light-hearted script, featuring some grimmer moments of cartoon violence. With its mix of rogue-like characters and dark sense of humor, this black comedy plays like an Irish cousin of Trainspotting. The swearing is near non-stop and includes variants of "f-k" as well as "c-t." Characters are seen drinking alcohol and smoking cigarettes either in pubs or with meals. A couple also engage in consensual slapping during intercourse until one of them punches the other causing them to stop. A couple is shown in bed and there is some kissing, but this is not explicit. Sex is infrequent, but it is both discussed and shown in varying degrees. Violence features occasionally and though some of it is played for comedic effect there are a couple of graphic examples, such as a man punching a defenseless woman and drawing blood. However, Sally ( Shirley Henderson) is shown to be part of a caring family as her mother helps her deal with a past trauma that still affects her outlook on life and relationships. Because many of the characters resort to amoral or illegal means to achieve their goals, the movie is light on positive messages and role models. The ensemble cast includes Cillian Murphy, Colin Farrell, and Kelly Macdonald in several interweaving stories - including a kidnap plot - set in the city of Dublin in Ireland. Parents need to know that Intermission is an Irish dark comedy with an all-star cast, as well as strong language, violence, and sex.
